That’s simply not applicable anymore and search engines are much smarter at deciphering what a page is about beyond seeing the same keyword used a bunch of times. SEO takes some time. There’s no legitimate way around that. But SEO is also not a one-and-done activity. You can’t SEO a website and call it good. If you want to stay competitive, then SEO shouldn’t stop just because you’ve started seeing results. Social shares are important because they help your blog post get discovered, so getting more shares and Retweets on social media networks is never a bad thing for your SEO efforts. Using a lot of engaging media like helpful graphics, interesting (and related) images, and videos can also help to provide more value and keep visitors more engaged. Thus, keeping them around longer.

Become relevant for your search terms

Type in your keyphrases. At least look at the first page (the top 10) and see what everyone else has in their description tags. Does it look like they’re being pulled from the copy on their pages? Link building, of course, is a science in itself

Your website won’t be found if people have to search too hard for it. “Ranking” for specific keywords relating to your industry and services is the first step in this process. If they’re not willing to do that, report them to Google.
