Gaining backlinks is tough, as it involves convincing a website to share your website with their audience. It’s a hustle to pitch your proposition to these websites, which usually is a guest post, sponsored link or asking if they would link to a resource on your site. In theory, it is important for domain popularity that as many backlinks as possible link to a website. However, in the past, backlink quantity caused webmasters to manipulate link building. So these days, link volume is no longer weighted as heavily as it was when the commercial Internet age first began. Google now categorizes links that are bought from other sites, links from online catalogs and mass-created links from blogs as spam. At the heart of your local SEO campaign will be building the number of listings you have. In other words, the amount of places you can add your business, and get a citation. Often it is assumed that only business directories count, but actually there are number of ways to expand your portfolio. For me internal linking is one of the most undervalued aspects of SEO, with many sites having inefficient menus and/or poor site structures.

Broken Inbound Link Building: What is it?

A web page can be given an immediate freshness score based on its publication date, which decays over time as the content becomes older. Google can, and does, ignore low relevance links. The worst offenders are generic links (“click here”) and even worse, off-topic links. A search engine results page (abbreviated to SERP) is the listing of results returned by a search engine in response to a query for a keyword or phrase. Search engines, like Google and Bing, will return many pages of content results for a given search term. The reason you want natural, helpful, informative links is that you don’t want to have to constantly replace links ignored by the search engines and you don’t want to suffer from penalties and downgrades. Link acquisition should happen without anxiety.

Understanding the rationale behind image tags

How SEO works for a big brand with an established reputation and a massive marketing team, PR agency and all of that stuff is very different to how SEO works for some local tradesmen with a low-end budget that has to catch up with the big boys. Machines are writing stories and that is often something Google is not a fan of. Now's the time for any local business to raise its game. SEOs have a weird way to describe this voting process; they call it “link juice.” If an authoritative site, we’ll say Wikipedia for example, links to you, they’re passing you “link juice.”

Publish Unique Data

Links back to your site from elsewhere online are an important way to improve your search ranking; Exact match Domains (EMD) Use description meta tags to provide both search engines and users with a summary of what your page is about! According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "The higher the organic search traffic the better, as more traffic means more people reading your blog post. A guest post on a website with traffic is similar to being featured in a newspaper, the larger the newspaper the more people will hear about what you have to say."

Poor Migration

As it may seem obvious by now, there is more to writing SEO-friendly content than ensuring you get a healthy ratio of keywords in. In order to get the most success with search engines, you need to speak their language. They don’t care how pretty your site is or how much blood, sweat, and tears went into creating it. Sad but true. However, they do care about the keywords you use on your web pages so make sure you use them properly. Weave them throughout the text in a natural way and use variations just to cover the entire basis. A common way to judge the reputation of a website is to check its Domain Authority (DA). DA is a score (on a 100-point scale) developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engines. A site’s DA can grow over time, like a lifelong reputation. A backlink from a high DA website to your own is a strong indicator of your own authority on a topic. For instance, bbc.co.uk, a news site which is trusted the world over has a very high DA of 95. A backlink from a site like this would be powerful for your backlink profile. It is an unfortunate fact that your SEO budget will have an impact on the speed of your SEO results. A higher budget simply allows for more people working on your campaign and researching your industry and creating your content.
