An infinite number of niches are waiting for someone to claim them. I’d ask yourself where you want to be, and see if you can find a path from a tiny specific niche to a slightly bigger niche and so on, all the way to your desired goal. Sometimes it’s easier to take a series of smaller steps instead of jumping to your final goal in one leap. ‘Mobile indexing first’ means that Google will look at the mobile version of your site to decide how high you should rank. Linking to authority sites helps send trust signals to Google. The link relevancy is important and should be done in a proper manner. You can use off-page optimization to improve your website’s reputation and authority. This depends mainly on inbound links. Off-page optimization involves measures which ensure that good-quality, relevant backlinks are created in the long term. This is also referred to as “link building.”

Long Tail and SEO

As you know, back in the day we could build 10,000 forum profile links with exact match anchor text and rank in a few days. Unfortunately many SEOs have not changed their game to keep up with Google changes. Now 80% of your links should be brand/URL links, 10% KW links, and the other 10% long tail/nonsense KWs. Also, if you're just starting out, build less than 50 links a day. I am the last one to tell a website owner that his job is to become the local SEO or usability expert. That would be unrealistic. Why should a constructor learn SEO? He should not. The key is to use SEO and content marketing together. Yes, SEO requires a lot of content, but that doesn’t mean you should pin all your hopes on that single aspect of online marketing. We want to come at this from all angles. It’s not just the content, but also its structure, that helps search engines decide on the results they’ll display first. Thus, a clear structure with headings and paragraphs that facilitate reading are preferred both from a user perspective and also from a search perspective.

Search Console shows your average position for each keyword

If you execute your keyword research properly, you’ll end up with a long list of search terms you want to be found for. Make sure to search for those terms in Google yourself. What results are there already? Who will be your online competitors for these search terms? What can you do to stand out from these results? While the Meta keyword and Meta description tags aren’t used as a ranking factor, Meta tags do still continue to have a use when it comes to SEO. The Meta keywords tag can be ignored but the Meta description tag should be used to help entice users to click on your page. A good Meta tag should be under 160 characters in length and provide a synopsis of the content on the page. Think of your Meta tag as a short elevator pitch that you can use to drive people to your website. Another major change in recent SEO is Google’s Knowledge Graph, which first emerged around 2012 – this has increased the focus on Schema.org microformatting making content more simply deliverable. Mobile SEO should always be a work in progress because there are always new things to improve. Also, technologies arrive or get discarded.

The person with the most useful content that can generate the highest quality links will win

If you’re goal for a guest post is to receive a backlink in return, then you would want to make sure their website has a number of good quality backlinks. The number of quality backlinks a website has will determine how powerful a link you will get. Getting high-quality links from outside websites is key — especially if you can find a way to get .edu links. Google sees inbound links coming from websites ending in .edu as especially trustworthy. It’s worth noting that there are SEOs who prefer using TF (Trust Flow) and CF (Citation Flow) from Majestic when checking their competitors authority and trust levels. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "For those who can’t find any good place to apply a keyword or phrase, using them in the links built to other websites will help them to stand out for readers."

Create an e-book or guide every three months

Automatic redirects and rewrites help search engines understand when you've made changes or moved pages on your site. Search engines no longer require you to spell things in order to rank, so your focus should be on writing for the people viewing your page instead. After all, time on page and other elements indicating your content was useful provide a stronger value for SEO. Reaching an international audience is an opportunity that is now available to small and medium businesses in a way that has never been possible historically. Where appropriate, you should add localization. This is extremely important to businesses who offer products and services to a specific geographic region.
